MADD Antigonish

Annual campaigns such as Project Red Ribbon and Signs of Summer serve to remind Canadians of MADD Canada’s "drive safe, drive sober" message. Now, more than ever, it is critical that we convey this message to our neighbours.  Every day, on average, just under 4 Canadians are killed and almost 192 more are injured in alcohol and drug related crashes.

SIGNS OF SUMMER PROGRAM

Each year businesses in the local area display messages throughout the summer months of May to August, reminding motorists to drive safe and sober.

RED RIBBON CAMPAIGN

Each year, from the beginning of November to the first Monday after January 1st, our MADD volunteers  distribute red ribbons coin boxes to businesses in the area and ask motorists to tie a ribbon on a visible location of their vehicle or to their keychain. This simple act to "Tie One on for Safety" has become MADD Canada's most recognized public awareness effort. It is a sign of respect for the thousands of Canadians who have lost their lives or who have been injured as a result of impaired driving. The red ribbon also serves as a reminder to people to drive sober through the holidays and throughout the year.

MALL DISPLAYS

Throughout the year we do several mall displays during key campaigns such as red ribbon or trying to recruit new volunteers.

PRESENTATIONS TO COMMUNITY GROUPS

Our MADD Chapter is asked throughout the year to do many presentations to community groups to educate them on what MADD is and what we do and also on the dangers of impaired driving and new initiatives to deter people from driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
