faces of MADD coming to your neighbourhood – going door-to-door
With its newest awareness campaign, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD Canada) is about to deliver its message, literally, door-to-door – and its volunteer canvassers could be sweeping through your neighbourhood in the next four weeks.
faces of MADD… saving lives one door at a time is a new MADD Canada awareness campaign that has been launched in cities
across Canada this week and will run to October 20th. faces of MADD is a door-to-door canvass designed to deliver information on MADD Canada’s programs and services, facts on alcohol- and drug-impaired driving, as well as to seek support for the MADD Canada mission.
Current plans have faces of MADD in Calgary and Edmonton, Alberta, and the Ontario communities of Toronto, Hamilton, London and the Niagara Region.
MADD Canada will be requesting both moral and financial support for its many programs and services. The canvassers will relate the organization’s on-going activities: victim services and support, public education, educational programs for youth (grades 1 to 12), and the push for more effective impaired driving laws in Canada. Canvassers will also ask for a donation to support MADD Canada’s mission: to stop impaired driving and to support victims of this violent crime.
Karen Dunham, MADD Canada’s National President, is excited about this new door-to-door campaign. “Our volunteers and our community activism are what make MADD Canada so effective and so successful in fighting for safer roads. With faces of MADD, at every door, we’ll inch closer to realizing our goals of stopping impaired driving and of supporting the thousands upon thousands of victims of this senseless crime.”
“This will be very exciting to see,” adds Mrs. Dunham, “upwards of 250 volunteers in neighbourhoods canvassing for safer roads and sober driving habits.”
MADD Canada is the country’s preeminent voice for impaired driving victims. The organization is a grassroots, volunteer driven group that is active in over 80 communities across Canada. Over 750,000 Canadians support through their annual donations. For more information on the organization and its programs and services, visit www.madd.ca.
