MADD Canada supports Ottawa’s impaired driving legislation
Urged MPs of the Justice Committee to pass Bill C-32, make roads safer and send proper message about the crime of impaired driving

Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD Canada) yesterday appeared before the House of Commons Justice Committee, which is currently studying Bill C-32, the federal impaired driving legislation.

Among its measures, Bill C-32 will establish a framework for police to apprehend and charge drug-impaired drivers.

The Bill will also narrow the presumptions relating to evidence to the contrary, a move that will all but eliminate the Carter Defence.

Appearing before the Committee of behalf of MADD Canada was National Director of Legal Policy Professor Robert Solomon. To read Professor Solomon’s introductory comments in support of Bill C-32, click here.
