Re: Sobriety Check Points

The local Bay of Islands Chapter of MADD Canada wishes to advise motorists, that in conjunction with the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, they will be performing a number of Sobriety Check Points this upcoming week end in the Bay of Islands area.

This also coincides with MADD Canada's annual Project Red Ribbon awareness campaign. The red ribbon is a sign of respect for the thousands of Canadians who have lost their lives or who have been injured as a result of impaired driving. The red ribbon also reinforces the message to drive sober through the holidays and throughout the year.

MADD Canada hopes the ribbon not only reminds people to drive sober, but also serves as a reminder of everyone's responsibility to call 911 if they see a suspected impaired driver. Call 911 and report impaired drivers to police and you will be making a meaningful contribution to reducing impaired driving deaths and injuries on our roads.

The local Bay of Islands Chapter of MADD Canada will be assisting the local police agencies in handing out red ribbons and educational materials to vehicles that are stopped at the various check points.

The Bay of Islands Chapter of MADD Canada hopes this holiday season is without an impaired driving death or injury. We call on all Canadians to do their part so that the holidays are times of joy and not sorrow.

We ask you to join with us and our Project Red Ribbon campaign. We wish you happy holidays and safe travels to and from your holiday socials.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact the undersigned.
