Cross Canada Trek Nearly Over
Halifax Radio
July 31, 2007

Eleven weeks...thousands of miles and they are nearly home.

Dana Hamm and Ian Chaisson returned to Cape Breton on Tuesday Evening after traveling across Canada in support of MADD Canada.

Chaisson, from Sydney says being back in Nova Scotia feels good and last night's view of the Canso Causeway was very emotional...

"I think every third car was honking at us and they were all from Nova Scotia so that was a real power boost for me.  Coming over that hill and seeing the Causeway I was full of goosebumps the last half hour."

Chaisson made the trip, dubbed Memories in Motion for his friend Michael MacLean who with his finance were killed three years ago in a highway accident in River Bourgeois.

Chaisson says it's been an incredible adventure...

"We met a lot of wonderful people along the way, through MADD and total strangers who had nothing to do with the cause at all.  We'd gotten to stay at peoples homes that we didn't know and good times with them and just getting to know the country."

Wednesday the pair make their way to Baddeck.

They'll be leaving from the Atlantic Superstore in Port Hawkesbury around noon.
