BRACEBRIDGE -- A man who drove on the wrong side of Hwy. 11 then pulled over to relieve himself was too drunk to figure out why police were arresting him, OPP said yesterday.
The driver, who faces charges of impaired driving, dangerous driving and driving the wrong way on the highway, was arrested Sunday morning after he drove southbound in the northbound lanes from Bracebridge toward Gravenhurst. Another driver in the southbound lane kept parallel to the driver while calling 911.
As officers moved in, the driver pulled over to the shoulder and got out to take a leak. As the officers rushed to arrest him, the man was perplexed. "He actually thought police were yelling at him for taking a pee," said OPP Const. Skeeter Kruger.
The driver, Kelly Pellerin, 28, of Warren, 75 km west of North Bay, will appear in court Jan. 22.
