Campaign promotes safe driving
THE WHIG-STANDARD
November 1, 2008

The Kingston and district chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving will launch its annual Red Ribbon campaign Tuesday at 11 a. m. at the Allstate office in the RioCan Centre.

Dignitaries and emergency response personnel will be on hand to show support for the group, which claims that each day four Canadians are killed and 196 are injured by impaired drivers.

The organization says the ribbon is a sign of respect for those people, and displaying one signifies a personal commitment to drive sober and to call 911 upon seeing a suspected drunk driver.

The organization hopes to distribute four million ribbons across the country in this year's campaign.
