Cambridge - Police are thanking a citizen for helping to put the brakes on an impaired driver this week. On Thursday afternoon, police said a man drove away from the LCBO store on Franklin Boulevard after being refused service. The Good Samaritan followed the man and called police, alerting them to the driver's location. Officers pulled the man over a short distance away. Staff-Sgt. Craig Ambrose said the suspected drunk driver had "extremely high readings" of alcohol when he blew into an breathalyzer. A 36-year-old man was charged with impaired driving and having over 80 mg of alcohol in his blood.
