RCMP snag impaired driver thanks to tip

St. Anthony RCMP received a tip regarding a possible impaired driver in the town of St. Anthony Bight at around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Police located and apprehended the male driver in a residential area and obtained a breath sample from him. The male's blood alcohol content was well over the legal limit. He was subsequently released and is to appear in court in St. Anthony on July 6th, 2009.

The matter is still under investigation and charges are pending. The RCMP encourage the general public to report any possible impaired drivers to police or Crime Stoppers.
