Taxi, ambulance, police car, or a hearse.

Mothers Against Drunk Driving says the choice of ride is yours this holiday season as it rolled out its 22nd annual Red Ribbon Campaign yesterday in Calgary promoting sober travel.

Tracy Franklin, president of MADD's Calgary chapter, knows too well the feeling of losing a loved one to impaired driving after her daughter Daylene, 23, was killed six years ago when she got in a car with a drunk driver.

"Some people say you get over it, but no, you don't," she said.

The campaign, supported by police, fire, EMS, RCMP, Alberta Sheriffs and other partners, runs until Jan. 4.

It encourages motorists to tie a red ribbon to their car or key chain to remind them that drinking and driving just don't mix and to pay tribute to the victims who have been killed or injured.
