Volunteers had better-than-average luck Nov. 7 getting the word out about Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
Sixty or more college students and police personnel joined forces last weekend to work voluntary one-day tolls across Sarnia and Lambton County. They raised $12,819.77 in the process.
In return for opening their wallets, volunteers working the tolls handed out thousands of ribbons during the official launch to this year's Project Red Ribbon campaign.
This year's campaign will run until Jan. 4, 2010.
"By the overwhelming support displayed by this Community, it shows that the public are behind what we do, wanting to put an end to impaired driving, not only in Lambton County, but everywhere," said chapter vice president John Reurink. "For that we are truly thankful."
