MADD promotes safe driving through holidays
Time and Transcript
November 24th, 2009
MADD is asking for your commitment to drive safe and sober through the holiday season. Today marks the start of MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) South-Eastern New Brunswick Chapter's Project Red Ribbon campaign.
Working with area businesses, MADD is asking residents of south-eastern New Brunswick to tie a MADD Canada red ribbon to their antenna, side mirror or other visible location on the vehicle or keychain. The red ribbon is a symbol of a person's commitment to drive safe and sober during the holiday season and throughout the year. The ribbon also serves as a reminder to other motorists to driver sober.
Every day, on average, four Canadians are killed and 207 more are injured due to alcohol and drug-related crashes. MADD Canada works to change these numbers each and every day.
MADD Canada's largest public awareness campaign, Project Red Ribbon is taking place across Canada from today until the first Monday after New Year's Day.
MADD Canada red ribbons are available at various locations throughout southeastern New Brunswick.
