Volunteers - MADD Canada Media Awards

MADD Canada (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) is pleased to announce the first annual MADD Canada Media Awards. The Media Awards program recognizes media professionals and organizations for outstanding coverage and advancement of issues related to MADD Canada’s mission to stop impaired driving and to support victims of this violent crime.

About the Awards

Awards will be presented to 3 winners in recognition of exemplary coverage of MADD Canada’s issues. Among three categories of media, awards will be presented for coverage of impaired driving issues. There will be one winner per category.

Television

Television and cable news and programming; broadcast news services; syndicated programming

Radio Broadcasting

National, regional and local radio news, talk or other programming

Print

National, regional or local newspaper, newswire, news service articles, magazines

Eligibility

  • Entries must have been printed or broadcasted between April 1 and March 31 and have originated in Canada.
  • Stories may be news, feature, column or opinion pieces and may be a single piece of work or a series. A series will be judged as a single piece.
  • There is no limit on the number of entries that may be submitted by an individual or media entity; however, each entry must include its own entry form.
  • Online media coverage or newsletters will not be considered.
  • MADD Canada National Office Directors will judge entries.
  • Judges are not required to select a winner for any category for which entries are not deemed award-winning quality.

Entry Requirements

  • Entries must be postmarked no later than June 30th.
  • One completed form per entry. For an application, click here.
  • One original and two copies of the entry piece. All submitted materials must contain publication date. Materials will not be returned. Please send entries in the following formats:

    Print: Articles formatted with masthead and date. Do not send entire publication.
    Radio: CDs clearly labeled with title, date, TRT, station name and contact name. Please include a transcript, if available. Audiocassettes will also be accepted.
    Television: ½” VHS/DVD/CD videotapes clearly labeled with title, date, TRT, station name and contact name. Please include a transcript, if available.
  • A typewritten summary of the entry piece and biographical information of the entrant.

Awards Presentation

The MADD Media Awards will be announced during a luncheon at the National Chapter Leadership Conference in September.

  • Recognition on MADD Canada’s MADD Web site, a national news release and MADD Matters newsletter
  • Winners will be notified by mail no later than October 1.
