Dead On Arrival

Thank you for your interest in DOA. This assembly program has ended its run. For the up to date list of assembly programs see the MADD@School page.

DOADead on Arrival is geared towards students in grades 7-12 and is played across 3 giant screens. It is a bold and intensely emotional story of the lasting effects that one wrong decision can make. The show explores characters whose lives are catapulted into unforeseen situations in the aftermath of an impaired driving crash. The story follows Alex and his teenage friends as they prepare for a party; drinking and smoking marijuana. Things turn deadly for this group on the way to the party when Alex runs a stop sign and hits another vehicle. The story flash-forwards to the ER, where doctors’ attempts to save Alex are futile and he is pronounced dead. The tragedies that come out of this event echo throughout the community, especially back at the Alex’s high school, among their peer group and at home where we watch Alex’s family preparing to bury their son.

The 2008-2009 show is hosted by the lead singer of Canadian Radio Music Award nominee, Live On Arrival.

Front man, Robb Nash, shares his personal story of having been pronounced dead on arrival after a terrible car crash. Amazingly, Robb came back to life and has since been given a second chance. He shares his message to youth across Canada to not only seize the moment but to make good decisions and always get to your destination “alive on arrival”. The show concludes with a moving tribute of photos, names and dates of teen victims across Canada.

Powerful Stories Shared by Courageous Victims Show that Alcohol and other Drugs Mixed with Cars are a Deadly Cocktail

Jordan, a popular 21-year-old young man, was leaving a party with friends. Usually he called a taxi but on this night, he climbed into a car with some friends and someone who assured them he was “okay to drive”. Just over a kilometre from Jordan’s Brampton, ON home the driver lost control at high speed and hit a light pole. The car was virtually sliced in half and Jordan died at the scene. The investigation into the crash revealed that alcohol was a factor and the driver was subsequently convicted of impaired driving causing death. Jordan’s family retells the story from the time they hear the police officers knock on their door.

Jimmy’s friends and family share what it is like to live their lives without their Jimmy.
