Stopping Impaired Driving - Education and Awareness
Educating and informing Canadians about the dangers and consequences of impaired driving is an important part of our work. Information alone will not end impaired driving, but the majority of people – when fully informed of the risks, both to themselves and others – will make the right choices and never get behind the wheel impaired.
Our education and awareness efforts focus on the effects of impaired driving both from the perspective of victims and families whose lives are forever changed. We also try to highlight the practical and legal risks of driving impaired, including licence suspensions, criminal charges, fines and even imprisonment.
Our goal is to make people see that impaired driving is simply not worth the risk – not to the innocent people who may be involved in a crash and not to the individual making the choice to get behind the wheel impaired.
