Strides for Change comes out with another successful year!
Walkers were in high spirits while continuing to promote awareness with our Annual Strides for Change event held in Rockwood Park. Whole families, and even pets came out to the Lilly Lake Pavilion on Saturday June 12, 2010 to support MADD Canada's mission to stop impaired driving and support victims of this violent crime.
Lilly Loo, the pavilion's mascot was on hand with MADD Saint John Chapter President, Rick McNulty to warm up the walkers before the walk. She had walkers going through the warm up process with smiles on their faces and laughter in the air. Thanks is in order to Rockwood Park for bringing her out!
After the ceremonial ribbon cutting, the walk was underway! Walkers, joggers and pups merrily completed the 5 kilometer walk, and were met back at the pavilion by the welcoming smell of hamburgers and hot dogs, proudly brought, cooked and served by our local Sobeys managers Tim Barton (West Saint John), Paul Barter (East Saint John), Joe O'Brien (North Saint John), and Donnie Gass (Quispamsis). They also supplied water, pop and watermelon, which was delicious!
Over the course of the walk, Jason and others from Saint John Radio were on hand to play upbeat, enthusiastic music. They were also our prize winner announcers! Many, many people came away with fantastic prizes from many different vendors around Saint John, and from a few MADD supporter volunteers.
Below, please find a select few of the pictures submitted from our 5th Annual Strides for Change.
