The following message was written by Andrew's father, Bob.
Andrew Charles Henderson, at 27 years old had a brilliant future ahead of him. He loved to work on his old cars and motorcycles and had many many friends.
On May 13, 1996, he and his fiancee were riding on his Harley Davidson, when a drunk driver aimed his truck at Andrew's motorcycle and stepped on the gas. Andrew was pronounced dead at the scene while his fiancee suffered permanent physical and mental injuries.
Andrew's killer, and we call him that because he chose to drink and drive, was a three-time repeat offender. As a drunk driver, he received a four-year sentence while Andrew's family and friends were handed a lifetime sentence.
Now, at our family dinners, an empty chair takes the place where Andrew once sat.
Tonight at your dinner, look at your son or daughter and imagine that empty chair. Having them gone forever, never being able to touch or talk to them again.
For your safety and that of your family, we must all do our part to remove those irresponsible individuals who choose to drink and drive from the roads we all share.
They are lethal killers, and you may be their next prey.
