I am a taxi driver and on June 4th, 2004 I was driving on highway
#1 at 1:30am. I was transporting to customer’s home. An impaired
driver who obviously thought that it was faster and cheaper than
taking a taxi hit me from behind.
It changed my life forever. My wife and I found out on June 2nd,
2004 that we were pregnant and because of the stress put on my
lovely wife we were afraid that we would lose our unborn child
that we have been trying for numerous years to have. Thank God
she was able to overcome it and the unborn child is doing fine.
The driver was traveling at a high rate of speed. Thank God all
three of us walked away from the accident alive. We are all traumatized
by it. I sustained a major concussion; severe whiplash and very
deep and bad bruising on my right kidney. I still suffer very
bad headaches along with devastating nightmares. Ever since the
accident I feel dead inside. I have no feelings towards anything
or anyone especially myself in general. The court proceedings
have been adjourned two times and more than likely will be for
a third time.
The impaired driver is facing three counts of impaired driving
causing bodily harm, one count of impaired driving and one count
of failing to provide a breathalyzer sample.
