In the early morning hours of June 15 - Father's Day - our oldest son Chris and three of his friends were torn from our lives by a drinking driver. A fourth young man riding in their car was critically injured. Chris was the designated driver that evening - a responsibility he never took lightly. He and his friends had spent a perfect summer evening just hanging out together.
Chris had a lifetime of endless possibilities before him. He was studying to become a journalist and had two years of studies behind him. He was leaving home to attend the University of Lethbridge that fall, and was excited about finally being out on his own. He had a summer job with a highway maintenance crew, a lovely girlfriend who he'd been dating for two years, and his life was full of promise.
Chris was everything you could ask for in a son. He was responsible, reliable - the best big brother and friend you could have. He could always make you see the humour in any situation. We miss his love and laughter, and that mischievous twinkle in his eyes. He'll live in our hearts forever.
