The first charge was dropped through plea bargaining to get a guilty plea. He was sentenced on May 26, 1993 to one year in jail, and served four months, with eight months parole, two years probation and three years suspension of his driver's licence. I was never informed about his parole hearing or his release from jail. To date, he has never apologized to Jim's family.

My dearest Jim,
Softly the leaves of memory fall,
Gently I gather and treasure them all
As no one Jim Dear
Can ever take your place,
If the world was mine to give,
I would give it all and more
To see that loving smile
Feel those loving hugs,
And to hear, "I love you, Mom."

You always made time to share
And time to give,
As you were doing the night the drunk driver
so violently took your life.
You left treasured memories
for your short stay on earth,
those memories will be treasured
until we meet at Heaven's Gate,
And you, Jim Dear, will say,
"Welcome Home, Mom."

Love you forever and always

Mom
